Chemical Composition and Mechanical Properties:
Carbon Content: For Grade A, carbon content is capped at 0.25%; Grade B ranges between 0.18-0.25%, and Grade C is between 0.25-0.35%. As carbon content rises, so does strength, though excessive levels may increase quenching tendencies, impacting toughness.
Manganese Content: Spanning approximately 0.29-1.06%, manganese plays a crucial role in refining grain size, fortifying ferrite, and enhancing both tensile and compressive strength.
Silicon Content: Consistently maintained at around 0.10%, silicon is pivotal for the deoxidation and purification of molten steel.
Tensile Strength and Yield Strength: Grade A pipes boast a tensile strength of no less than 330MPa and a yield strength of 207MPa minimum. B grades are rated at 415MPa and 240MPa, while C grades offer 485MPa and 275MPa respectively.
Elongation Rate: A general requirement exceeding 30% ensures that steel pipes have the ability to absorb energy through deformation during impact, thus preventing brittle fractures.
